Sunday morning illuminations

In March of 2021, I made the decision to leave the Instagram world and turn my attentions to what I fondly refer to as my weekly mini art project. I found myself craving something deeper than what IG was offering me. I wanted to share without the roller coaster of emotions that comes with social media. If I couldn’t find a way to connect to my neighbor, how could I ever successfully connect to the entire world? The pool of IG felt too big for me, and it almost felt as though I was drowning in a vast ocean with no life preserver. This weekly email is my little row boat. Oars in my hands, I can row wherever I’d like.

Sharing has always been a huge part of what I do, and why I was on social media in the first place. My subscribers choose when they want to open the email, knowing they aren’t going to miss out if they wait a few days. My email or missive (as one subscriber describes it) consists of nature photographs that I have taken during the week, updates on my beloved garden, and a small selection of writings that I have done during my morning practice. The emails are not long, but they are a little bit of light to brighten your week.

This way of sharing with the world is embedded with sacredness and reverence and has managed to make my heart sing in ways social media never could do for me. I find myself feeling as though I am coming back home, back to connection and meaning….back to myself.

✨If you have signed up, but are not receiving them on Sunday mornings at 8:30 EST, please check your junk/spam/promotions folders…they are most likely in there. To fix this problem, drag my email into your primary folder and add kathryn@blueonyxarts.com to your contacts.
