You stand on the edge of the earth, watching the stars. Worlds are laid out in front of you, ones you cannot touch with human hands. The splendor and mystery are to be seen, to be felt like all parts of this life. To deny yourself from feeling deeply is to stand in the sands of the desert without water. Emotions are a part of being human, a part of living. Feeling deeply brings you to a place of compassion and understanding. The deepness comes, like water to a thirsty plant, penetrating the roots with nourishment. Then it is done. There is a fine line between watering for thirst and overwatering. Feel an emotion and allow it to nourish you, whatever that emotion may be. Allow it to travel to your core. This part of your humanity needs it. When you overwater, you do not turn off the emotion, it continually sits in your mind playing over and over again. Plants cannot survive when they are waterlogged, they get sick and wilted; too much of what they need to survive. You too cannot survive continuously being bombarded by emotions that have long since passed. Feel what needs to be felt. Sit with the emotion, with the knowledge that it’s what you need right now to nourish you, and then let it pass. Turn off the water and bask in the sunshine.
